Children's Entertainment FAQs
Planning a character visit, birthday party, school event or seasonal experience should feel exciting rather than complicated. Our children's entertainment FAQs bring together the questions families, schools, care homes, venues and event organisers ask most often about bookings, characters, payments, travel, safety and preparing for the big day.
Your Guide To Booking Magical Children's Entertainment
Our children's entertainment FAQs are designed to answer the practical questions that can make the difference between feeling unsure and feeling ready to book. You will find straightforward information about securing a date, choosing a character, travel, payment, supervision, accessibility, outdoor appearances and seasonal entertainment.
Magical VIP Visits provides mascot visits, princess parties, superhero appearances, Santa experiences and entertainment for schools, care homes, businesses and community events. Because every celebration is different, some details depend on your chosen service, venue and date. Where that happens, we explain what information to send us so we can give you the right answer quickly.
These children's entertainment FAQs also help you prepare for the visit itself. Simple details such as parking, access, a safe performance area and an adult remaining present can help the character make a stronger entrance and keep the experience running smoothly.
Children's Entertainment FAQs: Booking & Availability
These children's entertainment FAQs explain how enquiries work, when a date becomes secured, how early to book and what information helps us check availability efficiently.

How do I enquire about a booking?+
Complete the form on our Contact Us page with your preferred date, time, location, event type and character requirements. You can also telephone or email Magical VIP Visits. We will check availability and respond with suitable options and the information needed to continue.
Does submitting an enquiry reserve my date?+
No. An enquiry allows us to check availability but does not reserve a performer or character. Your booking is only secured once you have received confirmation and completed any required booking payment stated within your quotation or booking information.
How far in advance should I book?+
We recommend enquiring as early as possible, particularly for weekends, school holidays, Easter, Halloween and Christmas. Popular performers and seasonal dates can become fully booked. Short-notice enquiries are still welcome and we will always check what may be available.
What information should I include?+
Please provide the event date, preferred start time, venue or postcode, approximate number and ages of the children, the character or service required and any important venue information. It is fine if some details have not yet been confirmed.
Can I book at short notice?+
Yes, subject to performer, costume and travel availability. Contact us with as much information as possible. Although we cannot guarantee availability, we may be able to offer a suitable character, time or alternative service.
Which areas do you cover?+
Magical VIP Visits is based in Downham Market and regularly covers Norfolk, Cambridgeshire, Suffolk and Peterborough. We may travel further for larger events, schools, festivals and corporate bookings. Any applicable travel charge will be confirmed before booking.
Children's Entertainment FAQs: Characters & Visits
From choosing a performer to photographs, group sizes and outdoor bookings, this section of our children's entertainment FAQs covers what families and organisers usually want to know before the character arrives.

Which characters can I book?+
Our available party characters include popular mascot characters, princesses, superheroes and seasonal performers. Visit our Characters page to explore the current collection. All characters remain subject to performer and costume availability on your chosen date.
Can I book more than one character?+
Yes. Multiple-character appearances may be available depending on the date, performers, travel requirements and length of the booking. Tell us which characters you are considering and we will explain the suitable options.
What happens during a character visit?+
The content depends on the selected service and visit length. Experiences may include a memorable entrance, character interaction, dancing, simple games, birthday moments and opportunities for photographs. The precise format will be confirmed before the event.
How many children can attend?+
Suitable numbers depend on the chosen package, venue size, children’s ages and planned activities. Include the approximate number of children within your enquiry so we can recommend an appropriate experience.
Can we take photographs?+
Yes. Families and authorised event organisers are welcome to take photographs during the appearance. Please ensure that you have suitable permission before photographing or sharing images containing other people’s children.
Can character visits take place outdoors?+
Outdoor appearances may be possible when the weather, surface and venue are safe. A suitable indoor or covered alternative should be available in case of rain, excessive heat, strong wind or other unsuitable conditions.
Children's Entertainment FAQs: Payments, Travel & Changes
These children's entertainment FAQs cover pricing, booking payments, payment methods, travel and what to do if you need to request a change after booking.
Our standard travel policy starts from Downham Market. Where it applies, the first 5 miles are included and additional travel is charged at £1 per mile for the calculated return journey.
How much does an appearance cost?+
The price depends on the chosen service, number of performers, appearance length, event location and any additional requirements. Current options and prices are shown on the relevant service or booking pages where available, or we can provide a clear quotation for larger and bespoke events.
Is a booking payment required?+
A booking payment may be required to secure your agreed date and performer. The amount, remaining balance and payment deadline will be explained clearly before the booking is confirmed. Please also read the applicable cancellation terms.
Which payment methods do you accept?+
Available methods may include card payments and PayPal options. The appropriate payment details and deadlines will be provided with your quotation or booking confirmation.
Do you charge for travel?+
Travel requirements depend on the distance from Downham Market, the performers required and the selected package. Where the standard travel policy applies, the first 5 miles are included and additional travel is charged at £1 per mile for the calculated return journey. Any applicable charge will be shown or confirmed before the booking is completed.
Can I change my booking?+
Contact us as soon as possible if you need to request a different date, time, venue or service. Changes depend on performer availability and may affect travel or pricing. Please review our Terms and Conditions and Cancellation Policy for full details.
Children's Entertainment FAQs: Safety & Preparation
Safety, supervision and preparation are an important part of our children's entertainment FAQs. This section explains DBS checks, insurance, adult supervision, additional needs, arrival planning and performer breaks.
Are your performers DBS checked and insured?+
Magical VIP Visits uses DBS-checked entertainers and maintains public liability insurance. Copies of relevant documentation can be discussed when required by a school, venue, care setting or event organiser.
Do adults need to remain present?+
Yes. A responsible adult or authorised member of staff must supervise children throughout the appearance. Our performers provide entertainment but do not take responsibility for childcare, behaviour management or general event supervision.
Can you support children with additional needs?+
Please tell us about anything that may help a child feel comfortable and included, such as requiring a quieter greeting, extra processing time or reduced noise. We will discuss reasonable adjustments and adapt the experience where practical.
How should we prepare for the arrival?+
Please provide accurate access and parking information, a safe performance area and a discreet arrival point where possible. Keep entrances and performance spaces clear and let us know about stairs, restricted access or unusual venue arrangements in advance.
Do mascot performers require breaks?+
Longer mascot appearances may require short breaks for performer safety, particularly during warm weather or energetic activities. Any planned breaks will be considered when organising the appearance and will be handled as discreetly as possible.
Children's Entertainment FAQs: Santa & Christmas
Christmas is one of our busiest seasons, so we have included dedicated children's entertainment FAQs covering Father Christmas bookings, Santa's Study and personalisation.

When can I book Father Christmas?+
Santa visits are offered during the Christmas season, with availability announced in advance. Dates can become limited quickly, so early enquiries are recommended for home visits, schools, care homes, businesses and community events.
What is Santa’s Study?+
Santa’s Study is a private Christmas experience created for one family at a time. It is separate from our standard Santa appearances and includes its own appointment format, personalised elements and North Pole Archives keepsake collection.
Can a Santa visit be personalised?+
Personalisation options depend on the chosen Santa service. Where personal details are required, we will explain what information to provide after booking and how it will be used to prepare the experience.
More Children's Entertainment FAQs Before The Big Day
Our children's entertainment FAQs are not only about making a booking. They are designed to help parents and organisers understand what makes a character appearance run well from the first enquiry through to the final photograph. The more useful information we have in advance, the easier it is to prepare an experience that suits the children, the venue and the occasion.
What makes a character visit feel more magical?
A successful visit is a combination of presentation, timing, interaction and preparation. Giving the performer a suitable arrival point, keeping the performance space clear and avoiding children seeing a character getting ready can all protect the sense of magic. These children's entertainment FAQs therefore include practical preparation advice as well as information about the entertainment itself.
For birthday parties, it can also help to have the birthday child nearby when the character enters rather than hidden in another room or occupied with another activity. We can then make the arrival a clear moment within the celebration.
What if my child is nervous around characters?
Some children are immediately excited while others need more time. Please mention this before the visit where possible. A performer may be able to begin with a little more distance, use gentler movements or allow the child to watch other guests interact first. Our children's entertainment FAQs are intended to set realistic expectations while still allowing each experience to feel personal.
We never want a photograph to matter more than a child's comfort. If a child does not want close contact, there may still be opportunities for waving, dancing at a distance or joining a group photograph later.
How can I help the visit stay on schedule?
Please make sure the address, postcode and access information supplied at booking are accurate. If the venue has a difficult entrance, restricted parking, a reception desk or a long walk from the nearest parking area, tell us beforehand. This is particularly important when performers have another booking afterwards.
One purpose of our children's entertainment FAQs is to prevent small practical issues from taking time away from the experience. Good preparation means more of the booked time can be focused on the children.
Can you entertain at schools, care homes and larger events?
Yes. Magical VIP Visits works with more than private birthday parties. We also provide entertainment for schools and nurseries, care settings, businesses, cinemas, community organisations and public events. Larger bookings may need a more bespoke plan than a standard party visit.
If you are organising this type of event, use these children's entertainment FAQs as a starting point and then contact us with expected attendance, venue details, timings and the type of experience you would like to create.
What should schools and organisations tell you?
Schools, nurseries and professional venues should tell us about signing-in procedures, parking, safeguarding arrangements relevant to visiting performers, performance-space restrictions and the member of staff who will be responsible for meeting the team. Please also tell us if documentation is required before arrival.
Our children's entertainment FAQs provide general guidance, but organisational policies can differ. We are happy to discuss the practical requirements of your particular setting before the event is confirmed.
What happens if I cannot find my answer here?
Contact us. No FAQ page can cover every venue, family or event. If your question is not answered within our children's entertainment FAQs, send us the date, location and a short description of what you are planning. We can then give you information that is relevant to your booking rather than making you work from a generic answer.
For unusual events, multiple performers or longer appearances, contacting us before booking can also help us recommend the most practical option.
Why Our Children's Entertainment FAQs Help You Plan With Confidence
